Thanks for this post! As a sorority woman (Gamma Phi Beta!), I have had the same struggle as a job-seeker. It is nice to know others have dealt with the same thing. I resolved that the communication, leadership, and career skills I developed as a member would carry far more weight on my resume than the potential for stereotypes. I've actually referred to my experiences as chapter president during numerous job interviews; interviewers are impressed and surprised by the experiences I gained there, time and again!

Laura, thanks for leaving a comment! I am very excited about possibly bringing back Phi Mu to VT. I know the presentation is closed, so I hope it goes really well. If things pick up, you know I'll be involved! Talk to you later!

Emily,
I couldn't agree more with your post. I am glad to see it. Congrats on being in your MBA program at VT. I am a huge VT fan and love watching VT football. I know that you must be busy but I need to tell you about an opportunity. The campus panhellenic has voted to extend and Phi Mu is presenting to the Panhellenic next week!! So there could be some opportunities for alumnae involvement. Let me know what you are up to!!
