Hey There Hokie Honda!

When it comes to cars, there’s a stereotype out there that suggests women get taken for their money every time they take a car in for servicing. Information is power, and well, if you don’t know much about cars, you feel pretty powerless.

I’ve always loved my Honda. We’ve had some ups and downs, the downs mostly being after a guy plowed into me on a highway. Surprisingly, the worst part about all that was that after the entire back-end of the car got replaced, someone in a parking lot dinged the front fender. Sheesh…

Especially because of the accident (and my father taught me well), I take the car in for its regular check-ups and servicing. I move frequently, so when I start out in a new town, I go ahead and just have a dealer service station look at it. I know what you’re all saying, “Never take it to a dealer!”

See, I would rather have a fully trusted source my insurance recognizes take the first look when I’m in a new city. I’m the only one accountable for my car, so I’m going to make sure I start off on the right foot instead risk having a seedy place “change” my oil. A few extra dollars upfront could save me down the line.

When I moved to Blacksburg, I needed to get my car checked and inspected. I googled “Honda Blacksburg” and there it was: Duncan’s Hokie Honda. They got me an appointment right away, and my first experience was quick and painless.

Then during the winter, my engine had a funny smell coming from it. Having experienced something similar when a belt was wearing down, I was able to just stop in and have them take a look. It wasn’t a belt but all the road salt from the snow. I was good to go, and if I am ever worried,  I can always have them take a look. Oh, and this visit was on the house. I’ve also had a light go out, and they took care of it, charging me only for the part.

I’m not telling you all of this so you think that there’s a business out there that’s practically giving services away. What they’re doing is getting me to keep coming back (and telling my friends about them).

Almost every one of the associates there recognizes my car, and the team is always more than polite. Maybe it’s southern hospitality, or maybe it’s just an effort to be better than the stereotype. Whatever it is, they’re an amazing business.

You can have a big company name like Honda, and still be a local trusted source. Thanks Hokie Honda!
